OMAHA, Neb., Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- MFS Network Technologies, a subsidiary of Able Telcom Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: ABTE - news), announced that an intent to award has been issued by the Colorado Department of Transportation. The award authorizes CDOT to negotiate an agreement with MFSNT to design, integrate, construct, and operate a digital fiber optic communication network, and includes installation of excess capacity that will be offered to third party users. Upon final execution of an agreement and user demands, construction will be built in phases and could begin as early as March of 1999. When completed, the communications system could span as much as 1,200 route miles and have a potential value of up to $150 million.

ABTE engages in the design, installation, system intergration and maintenance of advanced communication networks for voice, data, and video systems. For the nine months ended 7/98, revenues rose 87% to $114.5 million. Net income applicable to Common rose 46% to $1.7 million. Revenues reflect the acquisition of MFSNT, COMSAT and Patton. Earnings were partially offset by tighter margins and competition and an increase in the management structure.
