Monday January 4, 5:55 pm Eastern Time Ascend fax, voice standardized by ISPtel ALAMEDA, Calif., Jan 4 (Reuters) - Ascend Communications Inc. said Monday that ISPtel, an international consortium of Internet Service Providers, has standardized on the Ascend platform to deliver voice and fax services on the Internet. Ascend shares closed up 1-11/16 to 67-7/16. ISPtel is an Internet telephony consortium that is building a worldwide voice and fax network, which regional ISPs can tap into for international service. Ascend Communications is a networking systems company.
