But the male lion can go it alone! That is why the hyenas avoid attacking him unless they become totally and uncontrollably rabid (like the present crop of Republicans, I may add!).

And yes, the solitary and the graceful cheetahs suffer the most from the marauding hyenas. Leopards are my favorite. They stay away from the hyenas by living on trees!

Actually the females are the hunters and do so in packs. When they can't get the job done the male does the kill.
