Cellular
• In its latest Wireless Price Index study, the Yankee Group said wireless rates have dropped by an average of 40 percent between early 1995 and
third-quarter 1998. This has triggered average levels of 300-400 minutes of use per month for digital cellular and PCS, compared to average monthly
wireline use of about 1,000 MOU.

PCS
• U S West said it plans to expand PCS deployment to Salt Lake City and other markets. The carrier said more than 175,000 customers have signed up for Advanced PCS service.

• Marketing themselves as "SunCom, a Member of the AT&T Wireless Network," AT&T Wireless Services Inc. affiliates Triton PCS Inc., TeleCorp PCS Inc. and their new colleague, the Tritel Communications Inc. entity created by Mercury PCS, plan to begin service as early as this quarter in selected cities of adjoining footprints that eventually will blanket much of the Southeast.

Data
• According to a new study from Datacomm Research Co., the wireless industry will grab a large share of the high-speed Internet access market. Datacommís nine leading candidates are cable TV, digital subscriber loop telephony, millimeter wave technology (including LMDS), third-generation cellular and PCS,
wireless cable, fixed satellite, data broadcasting, wireless local area network-based access and infrared-based access.

International
• Israel carrier Pele-Phone Communications Ltd. launched a CDMA cellular network provided by Motorola Inc.ís Network Solutions Center.
