X - don't you mean to ask Happy Girl these questions? She is the one with the answers.

The only concession I can make on that one : substitute "may" for "will". The stocks may never crash because the environment becomes a system and as with any system - it is self supportive. Why didn't people sell today ? Why would they ? The system reinforces investment, it rewards investments. It punishes withdrawl.

Unless an external force acts to break the upward spiral, the netstocks may never crash. The system rewarded volatility. The internets were extremely volatile. Then came an external stimulus - the margin rules. The volatility is reduced considerably.

<<<I suppose we could go up for years before it happens (with only corrections in the interim) or it could happen this year- but "never"?>>>

You've taken a very appropriate approach in that sentence. Try not to be so literal. The never is used as a relative, not an absolute. Seek the wisdom behind the statement, not the statement itself.

Your handle reminds me of the Tale of "O" video I once bought to promote diversity at workplace. Rosabeth Moss Kanter talks about "X"s and "O"s. Great one. A must see.

Why were their manias and crashes ? I don'tknow. You can't just lump all manias and crashes together without analysing them individualy. Each one has a reason.

Bye for now.
