LOL! I was merely trying to, uhm, y'know, maintain the serious high-minded tone of this thread. Dang. Guess I'm an incomplete moron. Or summat.

It's a shame we didn't really get to work seriously with sike'a'dillies in this country (or pretty much anywhere else in the countries covered by my HMO). The exuberant first social fling with these drugs was bound to end right back at Go - because what you get out of them depends a whole lot on what you take with you. As a society we never got to develop protocols for the wholesome, useful application of psychedelics. As more effective actuators/enablers of our mythic circuitry than, say, snake handling or the [Somebody] Electrometer favored by a fairly young Church. Our elected Methodists (more precisely, the good Calvinists they appointed to high offices of law enforcement) lumped them in with the empty, life-sucking intoxicants, like booze, crank or smack.
Pity.

Hmm, I saw Ken Kesey speak, I thought he was a little . . . pretentious, but then he was a Harvard guy. I also Baba Ram Dass (Alpert) a couple of times, I thought he was pretty cool.
