Cocksureness? A very interesting juxtaposition just occurred because on a baseball trivia thread I occasion on occasion, a WW II era player by the name of Johnny Dickshot was the answer to a question today. The question, you ask? Once in major league history, players finished 2nd and 3rd in batting average in their league and then never played again. When and who?

The answer was Stuffy Stirnweiss and Johnny Dickshot in the American League in 1945. Of course, they lost their jobs because the real players came back in 1946.

Who would you rather be: Fred Cocksure or Johnny Dickshot?

Or a favorite ballplayer from the 1890s, Bill Glasscock?

As my wife often says, How can you remember all this unimportant trivial baseball stuff (Who played third base for the 1960 Pirates? Don Hoak) but you forget to take the garbage out on Thursday?
