cool, i have the virtual resolution you spoke of. duh. :) called stb vision95, the card is a powergraph 64 3D. came in a dell xps166 i've had for 2 years. has virtual desktop w/dynamic area switching, multiple desktops, dynamic resolution switching, zoom window, bird's eye window, and like that.

btw, it does not show in the settings under properties after right clicking desktop. but zeuspaul's post made me realize that i had this feature. i've had some conflicts with video drivers and hanging, etc, and had this feature turned off. so now i'll go in and scope it out.

poor man's multimonitor solution, indeed. :)
