Cramer 1/5/99 12:15 AM ET Random musings: The New York Stock Exchange better stop declining to comment about every ridiculous imbalance and crummy closing print. This isn't the old days when the public just says, "Well that's too bad," or "That's understandable." Now people are fed up with business as usual, especially after an AOL (AOL:NYSE) or an Amoco (AN:NYSE) or a Chase (CMB:NYSE) or an Illinois Tool Works (ITW:NYSE) trade. They feel that the NYSE protects its own at the expense of the public. In 1999, the NYSE should change should accept the fact that people will not reach a benign conclusion any longer when they see these outragesý Let's watch Onsale (ONSL:Nasdaq), which will be on Squawk. The pattern has been that you can own the stock until the minute the talking head starts the gig, and then you have to blow it to smithereens. Let's see if the pattern holds true for 1999. James J.
