I believe that this definitely qualifies as a positive development.

Unless you are a Mac game developer anyway! Get ready for the gnashing and wailing. For the sake of PR with the developers I hope Apple will not too completely implicate themselves in this.

PS it occurs to me that one could argue that if the Mac becomes a serious gamers platform because of this emulator, it could help playstation and Mac developers alike. But I am not willing to argue that this will happen... yet.

"Yeah! till about 9:30 am EST"

Hehe... maybe. But that would be assuming that the market is rational and semi-intelligent.

There were a lot of rumors regarding PlayStation on Mac earlier in the year but more substantial leads surfaced recently and I was asked to looked into the specs for PlayStation last week. PlayStations uses NEC R3000A processors running at 33.87 MHz. In terms of performance these chip are probably slightly more powerful than the old Motorola 68040 running at the same MHz. So at least as far as the processor is concerned it shouldn't be too difficult to emulate given the fact that PowerPC is so much more powerful and is also RISC based. I guess we'll know more details on other aspects later today.

I woke up at 4 am this morning and now I'm so excited about the keynote that I can't fall asleep. I'm going to try to get to the convention center early and get a front seat. Can't believe we'll finally be able to see what Yosemite looks like in a few short hours.

By the way, I was told that Jobs will be interviewed on CNBC at 3pm ET.

Eric

PS for all the nice folks who wrote me over the last couple days. Sorry if I haven't replied to your emails. I'm able to check my mail but sending them out is a pain since it requires that I log into an AOL account.
