I don't know if the final retail figures are out yet. Last week things looked fairly average. But that's according to CNBC, and the figures didn't include internet sales (I believe), or the final week of December sales.

Anybody else sick of the phrase "EURO-phoric" yet??? heh heh heh

And an ironic sidenote, the word "internet" comes up in red, when previewing my message, according to SI, its misspelled.

INDEX UPDATE
==============================

Per my previous update, the timing has now been changed. My
short-term technicals are in the mid-range to lower mid-range with the DOW leading the way down. If the DOW continues down it can become a CLASS BUY in 2-3 days, but keep in mind that it does not have to get that low to reverse back up. I am suspecting that the downside of this current dip will be limited

Originally, I mentioned that a SHORT-TERM TOP would occur by the end of this week, but now it appears that a SHORT-TERM BOTTOM will occur then, thereafter an upswing during expiration week.

So here is my pojection:
1) negativity/flatness for 2-3 more days into WED/THUR.
2) Upswing to start around FRI/next MON and to last 4-6 days, so most of JAN expiration week should be up. It is possible that the next upswing could be a strong move up, at least test the DOW's highs at 9380
3) Then I am suspecting a mid-term top near the beginning of the following week, say JAN 18-20 when a stronger downswing could possibly start.

The NEW HIGHs/LOWs have improved, which is giving me a hint that the next upswing to start end of this week/early next week could be a strong move to the upside.

Well, today will be that last day of SANTA's rally on a statistical basis, and it looks like he is not coming. So as the old saying goes " If Santa Claus should fail to call,Bears may come to Broad and Wall". Lets see it if this has any merit.
