I agree that it's overblown and that it will be temporary. The scary part is definitely the herd mentality. All we need is for the media to come up with one good real world example of a Y2K problem and the stampede will begin. Timing will be everything on this one for those of us smart enough to be in gold (or some safe haven) and cash. :)

I'm wondering though if a person needs to bother with the blue chip golds. There may be a better return on the juniors with cash and operating mines. I'm not going to bother with the bullion; I think that would only be effective if this was to be a real and sustained problem.
