"some brokerage apparently initiated coverage with a buy this morning. Warren and Dillon Reed"

Analyst Charles Wolf used to be the computer sector analyst over at CS First Boston. CS First Boston changed their rating to neutral when Wolf left. Apparently Charles Wolf initiated coverage on AAPL with a buy rating today with this new firm.

Just got back from the keynote. It was wild. I'll be going to the exhibit floor for a bit and then will be coming back to the hotel to prepare for the Apple investors meeting. I've got about 95 posts to catch up...so I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this.

Jobs said that 800k iMacs shipped from Aug 15 to Dec 31... In other words roughly 522K shipped in Q1 99. I say roughly because the quarter actually ended on Dec 25-26 so the actual figure for the quarter should still be over 500k. So our estimates for iMac shipment this Q was pretty darn close.

We'll discuss what that means in terms of revenue, margin and profit for the quarter during the investors meeting.
