Mike, I was way offbase about Toshiba and Sony. Toshiba still dominates laptops and Sony is still on the desktops, but market shares have disappeared from what they were. I think Toshiba made a great box, but they attacked the high end and the sales were at the low end. Sony made a great box and still does, but then they tack an extra $500 on to its price. Good idea if it works, but it doesn't work. <G>

I think we would have had huge overcapacity and an inventory glut without the Japanese invasion. But I believe that the US firms increased capacity sooner to lower costs to meet the invasion, so it did contribute to velocity.
