but will it be a 3-1 split. I don't care if they do or dont. But
If they don't the stock will hit 300 by xmas in 99. If they do have a 3-1 split the stock will hit 100 after the split.

Phillip, unless I'm mistaken, AOL has only 600MM shares authorized and around 518MM issued (data from the last 10-Q adjusted for the split which does not affect authorized shares if the split is accounted for as a "stock dividend"). If I'm correct, this means that there can be no split unless the company increases the number of shares authorized.

>> AOL is a strong split candidate despite the fact that they just split in November. <<

If AOL:
1. actually has authority over "1.8 billion shares"
2. does not have that amount but gains shareholder approval anyway and
3. executes a 3:1 split this month

Can anyone recall another company that did two splits in the space of less than four months?

I have my doubts about the rumor, especially when the info comes from a newsletter. I would like to see AOL appreciate at a consistent speed and not get jerked around by rumors, which benefit only daytraders and short-termers.

However, I am curious. :-)
