CBS Named AOL's Exclusive Broadcast News Partner

DULLES, Va. (Reuters) - CBS Corp. (NYSE:CBS - news) Tuesday said it was named exclusive broadcast news partner of America Online Inc. (NYSE:AOL - news) AOL.N, the world's largest Internet service provider.

New York-based CBS said the two companies will share advertising revenue generated on AOL, America Online's CompuServe service and its AOL.com Web site carrying CBS news programming.

CBS replaced Walt Disney Co.'s ABC News as exclusive news partner with America Online, which has 15 million AOL subscribers.

''Over the next 12 months, AOL members will view half a billion pages with the CBS News logo framing our editorial content,'' CBS Corp. President Mel Karmazin said. ''We also are developing an important new audience and new revenue streams for CBS News.''

In the agreement with CBS New Media, the broadcaster will promote the alliance on its new broadcasts, including ''60 Minutes,'' ''Face the Nation'' and ''48 Hours,'' among others..."
