Equalnet Announces Implementation of Option to Subscribe to Its Long Distance Service Over the Internet
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 1999--ACMI, the recently acquired network marketing division of Equalnet Communications Corp.'s (Nasdaq:ENET - news) USC Telecom subsidiary, today announced that you can now sign up for discounted long distance and toll-free service via the Internet at WWW.ACMI-TEL.COM.

Through ACMI's Internet site, Equalnet will be taking advantage of the Word Wide Web to reach new markets and to better serve its current customers. Customers will be able to sign up for discounted long distance and toll-free service 7 days a week 24 hours a day on the Internet. Online orders will be processed quickly and efficiently. Equalnet expects that this program will be the first step toward its customers having the option to receive their bills over the Internet, as more customers become comfortable conducting business online and as Equalnet develops its online billing capability.

''This is an aggressive step in helping our agents increase their sales volume'', said Tom Hull, ACMI National Marketing Director. ''Instead of a sales agent having to visit each potential customer personally, the agent will be able to compress time frames by working on the phone to help their customers sign up their long distance service over the Internet. New customers will be able to apply for the service online at their convenience lowering the resistance barrier for the customer to make a change!''

The telecommunication industry is just starting to sell over the Internet. Hull adds, ''Other industries you would not relate with E-Commerce do substantial volumes of business every day. We feel that our telecommunication products will be a natural fit for what both individuals and businesses look for when doing Internet transactions.''
