CHICAGO, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Dain Rauscher Wessels said
Tuesday it initiated coverage of Network Solutions Inc.
<NSOL.O> with a buy-aggressive rating.
-- Dain says in a report it has a 12-month share price
target of 160, based on a price-earnings multiple of 100 times
its 1999 earnings per share estimate of $1.60. Estimates 1998
earnings of $1.05 per share.
-- Share target and estimates do not reflect the company's
planned secondary offering or 2-for-1 stock split that was
announced on Monday.
-- Dain says Network Solutions, which provides domain name
services for the Internet, is a pure play on growth of the
Internet "and one of the best positioned companies in an
important emerging investment category."
-- Says that although the company will lose part of its
federally mandated monopoly during the next two years, "we
believe that the company will likely remain a de facto monopoly
for the foreseeable future."
-- Network Solutions shares were ahead 1-7/8 at 156-7/8 in
midday trade on Nasdaq.
