In special situations, the Wall Street Journal reported that British mobile
telecommunications interest Vodafone Group (VOD) has topped Bell
Atlantic's (BEL) reported $45 billion bid for AirTouch Communications
(ATI). AirTouch shares rose 3 5/8 to 71 7/8, Vodafone stock increased
5 1/2 to 180 1/8, and Bell Atlantic shares added 5/8 to 52 1/2. See full

wins. Nokia picked up 5 9/16 to 133 3/4, Tellabs 5 11/16 to 71 1/2, LM
Ericsson 1 1/16 to 26 3/16, Alcatel 1 1/8 to 27 3/16, and Northern
Telecom 3 1/16 to 54 1/16.
