Anything missing?

Lots of wonderful news coming out today. Was there anything missing, however?

Well, the new iMac color/speed bump/larger hard drive seems to replace the earlier rumor of releasing a revised iMac at $1,299 while dropping the current to $999.

In a way, I like this plan better. The $999's would have very low margins, and let's face it--the people buying iMacs are not the same ones choosing $500 PC's out there. The new $1,199 is right at the average selling price for all PC's, and avoiding a two-tier iMac system is best if it's feasible.

Apple's policy should be to avoid *both* overpricing AND underpricing their machines. A pricing war is a game AAPL would lose badly.

The only iMac disappointments? I would have loved to see 64 mb RAM standard on the iMac. 32 is really kinda paltry with today's games and other apps.

266 is also not exactly a major speed-bump. Putting the big 3 in front of the mhz speed would've done a lot psychologically for those who are concerned about public perception of the iMac's speed.

Finally, I was looking for maybe having the RAGE 128 chip included in the iMac. Maybe in the future. . .
