stak, RE:<<24/7 would require an awful lot of trained techies, much more than a 9 to 5 operation. Did they give any figures of how many users Red Hat could support under their 24/7 plan? Any cost estimates of this support?>>

Nothing as far as numbers out of Red Hat thus far. One of the advantages of remaining private. Most probably a big piece of Intel's investment last year is going toward this project.

<<GV, playing "what if" for a second. What would you do to help Linux reach a much larger client base if you were Intel? Is it better for Intel to just leave things as is(lowerkey indirect support of Linux) with its Red Hat strategy or to try and pursue a more direct approach by setting up a services arm of Intel?>>

If I were Intel/Red Hat, I'd try and get the box makers to support Linux, and not bother with support expense. One of the great scams MSFT has pulled, IMO, is getting the boxmakers to support Windows and all the concomitant problems. Linux would exponentially increase its user base if somehow Red Hat et al was able to do the same.
