Intel MS440GX mobo

I reviewed the manual intel.com

It may be true that the GX chipset supports PII CPUs but this is a dual slot II mobo. The Celeron CPU and the PIIs are slot one.

The mobo is sold as a package deal with the Suncheer case! $780 +/-

The only reference I saw to SCSI was a SCSI led connector. Perhaps Intel has an option for onboard SCSI but I did not see it.

I would stick with the throw away $100 BX chipset mobos and a Celeron for now. $200 is too good a deal to pass up. Why spend $1500 for a mobo and CPU which has a marginal performance increase? A year from now you could throw away the $200 combo and pick up something that will outperform your $1500 for a fraction of the cost.

Stick with IDE harddrives and CDROM for your base configuration..a lot cheaper and more universally supported..fewer configuration an OS installation problems. Use your SCSI controller to augment the base configuration with SCSI CDRW drives, Jaz, additional harddrives as needed.

I think you are planning a little too far in advance. Technology will change..there are new types of RAM on the horizon..Intel is changing strategies..there have been indications they will introduce chipsets/mobos with a longer life span.

My two cents
