Kevin - Re: " Keep in mind that nobody is doing FPU intensive aps on a notebook--its all about integer."

And you spoke with all 23 million notebook users, eh Kevin ?

I got NEWS - I have a notebook PC and I use the FPU all the time.

Nearly any spreadsheet application or stock investment software uses the FPU in monetary calculations.

So all 23 million notebook owners do NO FINANCIAL CALCULATIONS !

Good survey, Kevin !

Start over.

Paul

Kevin - Re: " Wonder when Intel will put a Celeron in a notebook (or if they'll just wait for Dixon)? How much power does a socketed Celeron consume, anyway?"

January 25, 1999 is the date.

The 366 MHz DIXON will run at 1.6 volts, and probably consume 8 or 9 watts.

The 333 MHz DIXON will run at 1.6 volts and consume slightly less power.

The 233, 266 and 300 MHz Mendocino/Celerons will dissipate less that 7 or 8 watts.
