My experience, if it helps, Is that if you put a limit order on your short sell, it won't be executed till someone bids that, or puts in a market buy when you are next in line on the ask. I have shrted BB's with limit orders.....A weird one I got the other day was when i shorted GIII, dlj told me I had to have a 100% margin for that one. So who knows

Coach, did they say that you couldn't place an order or that you couldn't get filled?

Think that I ran into the same person a while ago ..

Told me that any time that I sold something I would get the bid price only ..

Sooo .. about a month later I put in a @ market @ open order to sell some options that I'd bought from them .. guess what ..

the first bid posted that day was 3/8 .. I got 1/8 .. on 200 contracts.

You gotta understand that these places are in business to make money off from YOU. Once you understand that you can move on.

Tell him to re-read the NASD and SEC rules. To short you must sell at the bid (on an uptick) or at any price that is 1/16 or more higher than the bid regardless of the uptick/downtick status of the bid. For example, it's perfectly OK to post an ISLD ask price and have it filled when the bid is on a downtick. If you have level 2, you can see it happen all day long.

AVNT's news is not a positive..Almost every Federal civil suit gets ordered into mediation and all parties must attempt to settle their claims..before it can proceed in Court.. It is BS..that they hyped such an ordinary event..AVNT..is very bad, in my opinion and deserves what it gets...It is not likely to stay up much longer...Look out for a morning gap up..suckers open!!..Im going to SELL at some point in time 2morrow...

Never heard of that silly answer.
Even on ISLD, it works. Just tried out days ago on nite. When there was no uptick mid 22, I painted the inside ask with a few orders. All was taken out within minutes (and was even more surprised when it lost a buck within 2 hours and another quickly the next day).
