Wonder where they learned how to lie and cheat? Many if not most were lawyers before they became politicians. Seems to me the wheeling and dealing of lawyers in the name of 'justice' is exactly what politicians do. As an officer of the court I would think that lawyers represented justice. Rather, they represent clients and work to get them off--so where is the justice if you (the lawyer), know a client is guilty, and still put forth possible alternatives to a crime so the jury has some doubt? That is a bald faced lie. Clinton is a lawyer by training so I have to wonder. Lawyers serve a purpose but unfortunately they have become so self protective that they are virtually immune to the same difficulties they inflict on others. How many lawyers get sued a year? Bet not many. Why should a law firm take billions of dollars in payment for a suit (ie, tobacco settlements), when clearly a couple hundred million would be more than fair. Thought they represented smokers and the health system of the states? Somehow, they get rich and the poor slob with cancer gets a few thousand dollars. Ask Peter Angelos. That is how he bought the Baltimore Orioles. The saddest part of the whole thing is that most powerful people and large companies are protected by insurance policies. That means the masses repay the losses in higher consumer costs for the product of the defendant and increased insurance premiums. What about the frivolous suits where a lawyer goes after someone, loses the case, but the defendant is ruined financially because he incurred tons of legal fees. In most of the civilized world that doesn't happen--you lose, you pay. Why not in the US? Because of lawyers, their powerful lobbies, and their politician buddies. Where do the politicians go when they leave politics? They go back to being lawyers and perpetuate the system that they have benefited so handsomely from. I should stop now because I feel myself starting to get deeper in this than I wanted. Rebut if you must, I am sure you will, but I probably will not reply again. John PS I don't care much for doctors as a profession either so don't feel lonely.
