CANADIAN WIRELESS NEWS:

FSS competition to begin in Canada ahead of schedule
Canada is hoping that its recent decision to accelerate cross-border competition in the fixed satellite services (FSS) market will send a strong message to the United
States that it should do more to provide reciprocal competition. On December 15, Industry Canada decided to end Telesat Canada's monopoly as the sole
Canadian FSS facility provider for domestic and cross-border satellite services, one year earlier than required by the World Trade Organization's Agreement of
Basic Telecommunications. The FCC has been slow in approving Telesat's application to compete in the U.S. market.

New alliance concentrates on end-to-end wireless solutions
A new alliance founded by Vancouver-based Sierra Wireless Inc., brings together 18 Canadian and U.S. companies in an effort to bring new CDMA and GSM
wireless data technologies to market quickly. The WirelessReady Alliance was announced December 16 and, while the charter member list may read like a who's
who of companies working with the Windows CE OS, its founders say anyone is welcome to join.

Microcell testing 3G cellular using borrowed spectrum
The first tests of real-life 3G PCS are underway, and Microcell Telecommunications Inc. is taking the lead among its North American GSM partners to test new
equipment.

Keith, you're right. The November 1997 10k does not list ATT under infrastructure equipment licensees. ATT is the only new infrastructure licensee that shows up in 1998. Under ASIC they added PrairieComm, Inc. The new subscriber equipment licensees were: acer, alps, appeal, AT&T, casio, phillips, synertek, and uniden.

I posted that information a month ago. ATT was not listed as a licensee in last year's Form 10K but is this year.
