Good point.

The Minnesotans weren't voting for banning abortions; they weren't voting for mandatory prayer in schools; they weren't voting for government to be able to peek into our bedrooms!

People opting for a fiscally conservative, socially liberal approach are about as far as they can get from what the Republican Party is today -- socially oppressive and fiscally rudderless.

People who favor conservative fiscal policies and liberal or moderate social agendas voted for Ventura. People who favored liberal fiscal and social agendas voted for the distant third Humphrey.
