Tony,

but in the corporate market, you still can't give
away a non-Intel based PC

It wasn't that long ago that the words "in the corporate market" could have been replaced with "in the major OEM market".

With the prices that Intel is charging for Xeon, it won't be difficult for AMD to find K7 customers.

Tony, re: Pecks quote, "but in the corporate market, you still can't give away a non-Intel based PC."

The same comment used to be said about PC's in general -- "toys," "business doesn't need them," etc. Then employees started demanding them. One third of the purchasing managers for large corporations probably bought an AMD PC for their kids in the last year. Don't you think thats going to affect his decision when he sees quotes from DELL that are 50% higher than Gateway, and twice what he paid for his kid's machine?

Tony , AMD doesn't have to topple Intel
All they need is a small part of the corporate business to enrich the profit picture tremendously .
I believe that this year could be very helpful for AMD getting into the corporate market , the reason being Y2K problems .
Many companies will be upgrading to newer Y2K compliant hardware and software this year , with large numbers of PCs to be replaced corporations will want to reduce their costs .
AMD powered machines would be a good solution .
Brian
There are already some businesses in my area that have been moved on to AMD machines ( I steered them).
