Hello, all. Happy New Year. This is a very good article from an updated Digtv site....http://www.digitaltelevision.com/dtvcon199.htm

Also, a couple of webnames on ice...don't think its a coincidence..ADO, of course, is the special effects system and is still a powerful brand name, I am told...interesting to guess what's coming....

One thing to consider, a web based business is not a new idea for Ampex..remember they have participated in two trials with MCI. The first one was begun in April 1996 and involved moving video from NBC parent to the more than 200 affiliates. Current systems involve satellite feeds and FEDEX literally. The second trial was with MCI's advertising agency, Messenger Vertere(might have this screwed up..typing from memory) This involved moving video from commerical maker to ad agency and to the fortune 100 client who ordered the commercial, again as opposed to FED EX tapes.

I believe Ampex saw from these trials an opportunity to offer video services over a VPN or the public internet.
