The bigger MSFT gets, the more "average Joe" will be on MSFT's side in this case. This goes along with the fact people are putting a lot of money in S and P 500 index funds. What will they see on those statements showing top holding in the fund ----YUP!! Microsoft. That is one way to get the public on your side. Furthermore, even if it not an index fund -- a large cap fund is also expected to have a good position in MSFT. Large cap stocks are on the way in. They will actually buy more product since they actually "own" the company. I used to shop more at Walmart when i had the shares. It might have been subconsious but i realize that these things happen.

The DOJ really boils down to getting businesses and individuals to hate MSFT resulting in more sales of competitors' products. It is not about browsers. I even think the good Apple i-mac sales were partly due to people wanting an alternative to MSFT. That is the objective of the case. (BTW - I have some Jan calls on Apple--doing well)

MSFT has gotten smarter and realized this --- they are doing great Public Relations work now after they got their lesson from the Windows 95 screw up, ie the court injunction (not obeying court order - using legal argument for something so simple). I don't think they will try to keep their stock price down this time -- at earnings release. Stock split will surely cause the stock to go up and I think this is what they want NOW.

You guys are starting to make me believe that the stock will have an incredible ride in this year -- not just til February.
