This quarters results should give the sector a kick in the rear.
Hopefully then Wall St. will recognize the value in the hard drive sector.

Yes it has been quiet on this thread, but it is the "quiet period" before announcements of quarterly results in a few weeks, so no comments from the execs.

I think many investors are gaining confidence that the HDD market conditions in '99 can only be better than '98, and all the HDD makers may come out with better than expected results. Meanwhile the huge waves of investment dollars flowing in and out of the equity market seem to be having the bigger effect on whether theses stocks are rising or falling in the short run.

For Quantum it has already been said that there will be a one time write off due to Quantum's exit from the recording heads operation, but the good news is that it ends those losses from flowing into the bottom line every quarter. Profits from the other divisions can henceforth come through more robustly.

I'm hoping for more positive movement leading up to the announcements.
