>Soup, is the idea that all iMac colors will be offered at all selling points, or just at some, or only at the on-line store?<

Excellent question. I don't know the answer. VARs and small chains will be in something of a bind. We (Tekserve) will probably get some of each for stock and order more on as "as needed" basis.

I think the idea makes *terrific sense* for the BTO Apple Store as well as high volume retailers like Comp-USA and Best Buy. The theater value is superb as it will be impossible for computer shoppers to resist giving these a good lookover.

In Japan, surveys showed that 50% of iMac buyers are woman. With most couples I know, the wife generally wins the home decoration battles. Imagine the husband/wife/kiddee crosstalk.

He: "Hey Helen, ever see such funny-looking computers. Who in their right minds ... "

She: "I dunno Ralph, that grape one would matches drapes I want."

Kid: "PlayStashun, Mommy! PlayStashun! ... "

What a riot.

Also remember that MacWeek columnist Don Crabb championed the marketing tool of having multi-hued iMacs match college color schemes.

"Hiya, we here at Tennessee would like to order 2000 iMacs in Volunteer Orange! Wahoo! (Or whatever it is Tennessee-ans utter when they're exuberant.)

Even in corporate settings, if esthetic considerations are factored into the buying decision, AAPL will win.

Game. Set. Match.
