Interesting, if sales of Cablespan are strong, that would indicate
good growth for ADCT's Homeworx's product too.

Hi Harry,

>>Are you hearing anything about purchasing by MCI-WCOM?

Nothing yet; however the press knows about things before managers at MCI WorldCom.

MCI-WCOM is in a tizzy of re-organizations. Some VPs are being pushed out and some directors are leaving. This is the first time in MCI's history that so many org-charts have been published in such a short time from the VP level down. A few spin-off companies are forming. There was an article on the WCOM thread about the MCI brain drain, which in part is true.

Internally, MCI WorldCom is still dealing with side effects and direct effects from that virus that caused Network Associate's stock to rise. The virus scanning software (no fix for it yet) chokes some file servers.

I haven't heard of any purchases. Many rumors are floating around in the press and internally about Bernie out sourcing the IT portion of MCI--EDS and IBM are the contenders. Rumor is that EDS dropped out.

With all the confusion going on, I do not see much happening until February. Attrition is high; positions are not being filled. Departments do have new budgets; However, they are not staffing as usual.

Bernie took away the free MCI tea and cocoa in the coffee rooms. This may explain the rise in stock price.

There have been a few shares given out. ~1200 per employee vested over 3 three years, through options.

Not much else in the rumor mill.

Lachesis

MCI WorldCom to bid $55 bln for AirTouch-USA Today

NEW YORK, Jan 7 (Reuters) - MCI WorldCom Inc. plans
to bid more than $55 billion for cellular phone giant AirTouch
Communications Inc. , people familiar with the deal told
USA Today on Thursday.
The all-stock offer, which could be announced as early as
this week, is an attempt to out-bid Bell Atlantic Corp.'s
estimated $45 billion offer and Vodafone Group Plc's
estimated $55 billion offer.
USA Today reported that MCI WorldCom Chief Executive Bernie
Ebbers met with close advisors this week and decided to enter
what is now a three-way bidding war.
Both MCI WorldCom and AirTouch declined to comment to
Reuters on a possible deal. MCI WorldCom in the past, however,
has said it does not see wireless as a necessary part of its
product mix.
The paper also reported rumours that Mannesmann AG ,
AirTouch's German ally, may also be considering a bid. Mannesman
officials made no comment to the paper.
Mannesmann and AirTouch are partners in Moblifunk, Germany's
largest wireless network.
