Ibexx or anyone else, CBSMarketwatch stated that SoundView Financial raised their estimates on Intel. Does anybody know how much the estimates were raised? I've been trying to figure out how a surge in buying due to the Y2K problem would benefit Intel's bottom line.

Regards,

Doug

From CBSMarketwatch:

SoundView's Scott Randall upgraded his earnings estimates for Intel(INTC). Randall said he sees a revenue boost for the chip maker resulting from increased spending to combat the year 2000 computer problem and accelerated launches of Intel's higher-speed Celeron processors. Intel rose 2 7/16 to 123 1/4.

Re: "However, getting assigned on the puts you are short could mean a lot of $$$$ flowing out of one's pocket--it could be an enormous amount that one is not prepared for."

Which brings up the point.. No one should ever write naked puts unless they are prepared to own the stock at the strike price. I've been writing puts on RMBS for many months now and I would be glad to get assigned... But then again I'd be glad to just let them expire...

Ibexx, I've heard many times that a lot of people got wiped out in 1987 because they thought they were printing money by writing puts.
After the market tanked they were screwed!

Puts can be dangerous if they're written indiscriminately!

I'm sure you know this, but some certain other people may not.

Regards,

Doug
