The Europeans Will Submit Eventually.Ronald McDonald Says So. chicagotribune.com I think the World Gold Council should begin charging McDonalds for use of the word " Golden " in Golden Arches.I think they should begin to take on every company that uses the word " Gold " in advertising or product description, unless there is infact some form of actual Gold involved. To use the word " Gold " implies something is the " Best " or " Top Of The Line " etc..etc.. and may even imply there is actual Gold involved. The World Gold Council would then bring attention to JSP(Joe Six Pack) that " All That Glitters Is Not Gold ".But then again,we know that they are made up of the BIG Gold companies that are very short the market at this time.....too early to promote yet...maybe later in the year,eh? Haven't destroyed enough smaller companies to steal yet. This current price is is ideal for them longer term.Think about it misanthropically.<g> I tend to agree with your position on Europe in general, but to compare or use Canada as a comparison is not quite on the mark, yet the concept of accepting and diversifying cultures was.Quebek is only unique in that that it has chosen to weaken the country through extortion under the prevarication of cultural identity. So far it has worked quite well...for them...but WE are perspicacious to their subterfuge With regard to oil and other commodities,it is only natural to consider these will some day be priced and traded in the EURO as well as the USD.This will likely take some time, but at the speed things happen these days,it may be sooner than many think. Why go through a triangle if both parties are agreeable to trade in a medium of exchange acceptable to both parties?Just good business I say. Regarding the military....no doubt about those statements. We do not live in Shangri-La,far from it I'm afraid.A far greater force than anything man(or woman) could produce(other than love) will be needed to let down our guard. As for technology,I think the learning and acceptance for " common people " grows exponentially with the technology itself.Having been in the Tech. field for some time,I find the same old attitude still applies from most engineers. They tend to design things with an above average person's technical capabilities in mind. One of the few companies I have seen approach this flaw properly was and still is Apple Computer. The new I-Mac is reverse eveloutionary. IE: Keep it simple--stupid(KISS).The I-Mac was the top seller in the later half of 1998.When will the others smarten up on this simple concept.( I understand this unit may actually set the standard---AGAIN!!.)Bloat-ware and GiGaBiTs of memory requirements move over.Win-Doz 98 is a curse Bill Gates developed to get back at America.Just wait till Win-Doz 2000 arrives...this should be fun.<g> And now a word from our sponser.I present you Canada's finest " National ".." unbiased " .." objective "".." well researched " take on the mining situation today..................... ********************************************************************************************** The National Post reports in its Wednesday edition that after a year of playing it safe, Canada's troubled gold sector has a new mindset: bigger is better. Senior gold producers have roared back to life with three major deals in recent weeks, aggressive plays that end many months of caution and cost-cutting . On Nov. 30, Vancouver's Placer Dome Inc. snapped up a 50 per cent stake of a South African gold project for $235-million (U.S.). Then on Dec. 9, in a bid to become the world's lowest-cost gold producer, Peter Munk, chairman of Barrick Gold Corp., announced a $142-million all-cash hostile takeover for Argentina Gold Corp. Not to be outdone, Placer grabbed the front page again Dec. 14 with a pricey $1.1-billion (U.S.) all-stock takeover bid for Getchell Gold Corp. of Denver. The consolidation games have begun. Barrick and Placer have signalled their deal-making days are far from over . Meanwhile, many of this country's mid-tier gold producers, anxious not to be left out in the cold, are on the make, analysts say. One analyst expects "a huge shake-out . There's too many companies chasing too few dollars ."(Said they and re-written by Vancouver's finest........
