With an issue like this they tend to let it trade later in the day on which it was priced. I recall CNBC saying a couple of weeks ago that there was only 15 minutes between the announced pricing and start of trading for a new issue.

CNBC Market Wrap at 4pm EST today is expected to have a focus on new IPOs, particularly the .coms.

Kelvin,

I usually get notice of allocation and pricing the night before
trading begins, sometimes the morning before trading.. I don't expect
any here of course.. the hot ones I might be lucky and get a 100
shares.. so thats why I'm playing dbcc a little.

the coug..

Good question re: trade date, Kelvin.

01/14/98 is still a *tentative* pricing date, but it's the first "actual" date I've seen. Much better than "late January" or "week of 01/11. But it could easily change (earlier or later, but almost certainly within the designated week).

Typically, IPOs price after the close and start trading the next day. There are exceptions, however, including mid-day pricings. (Wasn't AHWY a recent mid-day "wonder.") In the end, it's a "game."

One more point. In view of strong MKTW IPO demand and the huge market move this week, I am certain MKTW will price above the indicated range ($10-12). Very bullish for DBCC holders. Keep your eye on esecurities' posts here, and sit tight. In particular, don't be put off by any MM-induced DBCC weakness in the next few days...
