Newmont Mining named as a defendant:

Ag Armeno Mines and Minerals Update

Source: http://www.agarmeno.com

On January 13, 1999 the Supreme Court
of British Columbia granted to Ag Armeno Mines and Minerals Inc.
("Armeno") default judgment with damages and costs to be assessed
against Jusuf Merukh ("Merukh"). Armeno filed the Action on
October 14, 1998 claiming damages and costs against PT Pukuafu
Indah ("PI") and its principal Merukh for breach of the May 28,
1998 Agreement through which Merukh and PI granted the sole and
exclusive option to Armeno to purchase 90 percent of PI
(effectively an 18 percent interest in the BATU HIJAU mining
project). As stated in Armeno's news release of January 11, 1999,
the Supreme Court of British Columbia on January 7, 1999 granted
Armeno default judgment with damages and costs to be assessed
against PI. Newmont Gold Company ("Newmont") of Denver, Colorado
is also a Defendant in the Action.

Presently ranked as one of the largest start-up mining projects in
the world, Newmont has announced that the US $1.9 billion project
remains on budget and on schedule for start-up in late 1999, and
that at completion, BATU HIJAU will be one of the world's largest
and lowest cost copper/gold projects with estimated annual
production over the mine's 25 year life to average 540 million
pounds of copper and 550,000 ounces of gold.
