ASEM finance chiefs to discuss currency target bands ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Finance ministers from 25 countries making up the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) will discuss next week a German proposal to set target bands for exchange rates of various currencies, Japanese financial sources said Wednesday. The proposal by German Finance Minister Oskar Lafontaine will likely be hotly debated at a meeting of the ASEM ministers and deputies from the European Commission, slated for Jan. 15 and 16 in Frankfurt, the sources said.
