News on Silicon Graphics/Number Nine agreement to sell video accelerator. Nine has a very small float, is moving nicely and will probably move to new highs in short order!

What surprises me is that UIS which has suffered a near death experience as well is treated much better by the analysts and the market too. It is overvalued in my model on the baiss of analyst forecasts, AAPL undervalued. AAPL has bigger eps surprises and less enthusiastic reccomendations.

a) The analyst actually found something *so* bad in the middle of all that
good news, that he/she felt compelled to downgrade

There are some problems with supplies of many of the components to go with these new G3s. No Firewire external drives, no touted 36GB IBM drives to go inside, and even the $49 SCSI card isn't available yet.

Worst of all, the mouse and keyboard are the same funky design as the iMac! That round mouse has got to go, I still can't believe Apple hasn't modified it into more of an oblong design. My mother was overjoyed when I got her a MacAlly iMouse for Christmas, she hated the original iMac mouse. The keyboard is no prize either, but at least these two things can be replaced with readily ADB equivalents. For another $100 or so.
