Mr. Bernie Ashe reports
AIT has been selected to provide a passport issuance system for the government of the British Virgin Islands (BVI). The contract, awarded by Crown agents on behalf of the BVI government, is valued at $275,000 (Canadian).
As a dependent territory of Great Britain, the BVI government is required to produce a passport of similar quality and security levels as that issued by the United Kingdom government. It chose AIT for this procurement based on its ability to provide a standards-compliant system that has been tried and tested in other major countries.
At the heart of the BVI system will be GenIE, AIT's secure document issuance software. GenIE includes a toolkit that will allow the software to be easily customized, based on the specific business rules and workflow used by the BVI government to issue a passport. AIT will also be providing hardware and software for the data capture and secure printing aspects of the issuance system.
AIT is pleased to have been awarded the BVI system. This further validates GenIE as a customizable and user-friendly application that is capable of issuing complex and highly secure documents.
