You understood correctly. Originally, the next version was expected in early March--now at the end of February. However, that new version isn't just taking down the Christmas decorations. It's better search capabilities, weekly updated new releases, a different look, new capabilities. It's a lot bigger step than just putting the wreath in the attic.
That being said, I expect changes before then--addition of amplified.com and maybe more.
