Your SI username and password aren't at all necessary; you can use whatever you like.

I suggest using SI usernames because my target audience is lurkers and posters on this thread, many of whom are paying SI members and have SI usernames. By using the same username on my site, I'm able to look at my log files at the most active users, and come to SI to look them up and see what their interests are. This could give me ideas on which directions to go in improving my site.

As far as the password, I don't care whether you use your SI password on my site or not; I only store an encrypted version, so without using some hacker utility, I don't know what your password is. (I tried that once; a lot of people use easily discovered passwords, myself included.) Using the same password on my site and SI is a convienience; you're less likely to forget it if it's the same.
