What is the point of this? To remind people? KALAHARI RESOURCES INC ("KLA-V") SOUTHERNERA RESOURCES ("SUF-T;SOARF-L") - Major Diamond Discoveries Adjoining Both Mackay / Back Lake Borders Albert W. Applegath, President of Kalahari Resources Inc. reports: On December 15 1997 the following announcement came from our joint venture partner, SouthernEra Resources: 226 DIAMONDS RECOVERED AT YURYI KIMBERLITE EXPOSURE Following a strong indicator mineral train in August, a kimberlite occurrence was discovered (The Yuryi). Six (6) pits were subsequently put down and 1,590 lbs of green clay kimberlite was deslimed and screened. The resulting diamond counts are listed below: KIMBERLITE TOTAL DIAMONDS <.5 mm DIAMONDS >.5 mm SAMPLE DRY WEIGHT/KG DIAMONDS IN ONE DIMENSION IN ONE DIMENSION Kim A 213.87 81 60 21 Kim B 200.07 89 66 23 Kim C 115.17 32 24 8 Kim D 97.35 17 12 8 971060 19.60 3 0 3 971061 20.00 4 2 2 TOTALS 666.06 226 164 62 micros macros Please note the size of those diamonds from the various pits: Kim A 1 diamond .01 ct. Kim B 2 diamonds .01 cts. Kim D 1 diamond .03 cts. 971061 1 diamond .12 cts. The source of the Yuryi diamonds is yet to be found. (January 1999) Within four to six (4-6) weeks, our joint venture partner, SouthernEra Resources, will be on site at the Back Lake Camp. This camp, situated on the shore of Munn Lake, now has ten (10) tents and seven (7) buildings which can house up to twenty five (25) staff. Sonic drilling through the ice, ten (10) feet into the lake bottom bedrock will start immediately to help define the source of the Yuryi diamond discovery on the shore of Munn Lake and the source of three (3) indicator mineral trains at Margaret Lake. Fifteen (15) sonic holes can be drilled in a twelve hour shift. These will be processed at the camp with the results known within forty eight (48) hours. This quick turn around time will quickly define drill targets. Conventional core drilling will follow to drill off known geophysical targets (20), new geophysical targets, resultant sonic targets and a depressed lake bottom area opposite the Yuryi discovery (1,000 feet off shore). Neighbours Winspear-Aber and DeBeers-Mountain Province have initiated their largest budgeted programs to date. These announced programs could total over $30,000,000 Canadian between now and the end of June 1999. The indicator minerals found to date at Back Lake are considered to be some of the highest in G-10 pyrope garnet content found to date in the NWT with the sources yet to be found (see previous reports: December 15 1997, March 19 1998, November 9 1998, December 18 1998). This project has a high priority with SouthernEra. Since the summer of 1992 to the fall of 1999, over $12,000,000 will have been spent in total between the Mackay and Back Lake Projects. This southern field of kimberlites (Winspear-Aber-DeBeers-Mountain Province-SouthernEra-Kalahari) will be watched closely by all diamond players over the next six (6) months. Is this the discovery year for Back Lake? See attached map. TEL: (604) 669-3332 Albert W. Applegath, President
