>>Failed to download: Dial Data did not respond to BYE command.<<

This is not related to any of the recent dial data server problems - this
has been an artifact of their system since day1.

This message comes up when you have too many "invalid" ticker symbols in
your request list. Dial Data simply disconnects if too many "invalid"
tickers are requested. A ticker might be "invalid" if:

a) The company has changed its ticker symbol.
b) The company was acquired, went out of business or simply no longer
trades.
c) You typed in a bad ticker symbol when creating the file.
d) You have tickers which are not supported by Dial Data and/or under
your monthly plan.

An easy way to look for invalid symbols in your database is to create a
Portfolio Sheet which includes all of the ticker symbols you are
attempting to update with Dial Data. From the File menu, choose New
Portfolio Sheet. Then add a column to the sheet called "File Dates" and
set that column to display "Last Date". Now sort the portfolio sheet
based on the "Last Date" column. You will see which tickers are not
valid because the Last Date will be blank (no data in that file) or will
not be recent (file hasn't been updated in a quite a while). You should
delete those invalid tickers from your database (use File menu: Delete:
Quote File) then re-try your Dial Data session.

Please reply if there are any problems along the way.

How much is ProTA? Also, Trendsetter is limited to 500 files per list. How many files does ProTA allow?
