Skip - Some thoughts /reactions to your point. We know what MSFT did to JAVA right? They tried to screw it up by tinkering with it so that MSFT JAVA would be different from SUN JAVA. They tried to Balkanize it so it would meet the fate of UNIX where there were so many different flavors that it undercut the installed base that would support common applications and R&D by third party software vendors. You raise a good point by suggesting that licensing to Ericsson could allow Ericsson to make a different flavor (i.e. W-CDMA) and take the advantage away from Q. In some sense though, that is what they are already trying to do. So I guess it comes down to what the nature of the licensing agreement is. I think in the end, the courts actually decided in favor of SUN's exclusive licensing agreement and put an injunction on MSFT from tinkering with JAVA. I'm sure MSFT will appeal though.Tom
