Richard, according to WOOD's statement "Preservation of Tropical Rainforest" they plan to harvest 50% of the stock in a 12 year cycle that "will guarantee the survival of all species".

This statement comes in an information packet that WOOD will send to you upon request.

Also, the Appraisal [conducted by Selva Medeireira LTDA] which is included in the packet states that "Brazil's regulations require that all logs come from managed forests. The forest must have an approved forest management plan consistent with specified guidelines and verified in the field by professional foresters."

I hope this helps to answer any concerns.

The growth of a hard wood tree would depend on where it is (in the shade or sun) On average it takes 15 years for hard wood, Mahogany -several life times, Cedar soft 8 years Cedar hard 12 years.

If Madera has tree prune crews , we get a faster growing tree and the figures above grow shorter. One day I asked Marble Mouth if he had pruners working the old trees. He said yes and that was several years ago.
