A major NT5 goal was to reduce the complexity of installation and configuration. This was achieved by installing and configuring *everything*. Indeed, installation is very slick now and there are some interesting side-effects and costs.

My favorite experience was when I installed NT5 on my laptop and went out to go some errands. When I came back, my battery was dead ... NT5 had installed the "Content Indexer" by default and it had ground away at my disk, indexing content, until the battery was dead. It seemed to be a peculiar form of infantile suicide ... a nascent NT death-wish. This is called "progress".

NT5 is cool ... what they are trying to do is complex and the solution path chosen will no doubt be successful, according to some standard.

I just have to "get it" that I am not in the "Target Population".
