Well Ish, actually I wasnt having yuks about the new speaker. I just happened to have come to the conclusion last night that about the only (highly visible) republican to have behaved honorably and like a statesman in this whole mess was Newt. Not initially, when he made that statement that he was going to bring up these charges against Clinton every day for the rest of Clintons term (remember that) - that was a mistake, as was the Starr report on the internet thing (another huge blunder). But other than that he actually tried to remove himself from the sludge it seems vs. DeLay etc that just dig deeper. I suspect Newt will be back in politics soon, he was wise to leave for now - some republicans will lose their careers completely over this, Newt will not. I never had much against Newt other than the Starr report thing, he did some good things on the tax code for independents.
