The short interest has been relatively steady at about $2.7 million shares since June 1998. However, the average daily trading volume fell out of bed in November and December to about 135,000 shares, yielding a "days to cover" ratio of about 20.

The trading volume has picked up quite a bit lately, with an apparent rush into the semi capital equipment stocks. I would think that at least some of the volume is related to covering of shorts.
