> Too many Mo players have been buying calls plus short covering.

it's pretty funny, the highest volume calls are ALWAYS whichever ones are the cheapest, no exception.. nobody bothers to buy in-the-moneys.

Day three on shorting Amazon finally scores a hit! The bold short seller is forced to pull the ejection handle. He screams I'll be back, but next time I'll be riding a saddle... I mean straddle <g>. As the longs look below for any sign of life, they see a chute. Of course! A couple call contracts dressed in white break his fall. Always one to pack a reserve but never hoping to use it. Bloodied from the encounter, yes! But, I live to short another day.

Cheers, to the folks on the Amazon thread I enjoyed this relatively short time (no pun intended) exchanging ideas with you. I actually learned a lot about trading in a frenzied market (I still hold my opinion the stock is over priced) The biggest lesson, my opinion doesn't matter, only the market's opinion matters at the end of the day. I'll see you in a few weeks after I regroup and place straddles on this crazy animal they call Internet Frenzy, Digital Tulips, and the 21st Century South Sea Bubble.

Curious? The ejection was set at $135. Set after 10:00. We all know about opening bell jumps.

Best of luck,
Bob

Before this stock will correct significantly there must be signs of some slowing in growth. Amazon continues to have sales momentum. However, it is "just keeping up" with the growth rate of e-tail commerce. Recent reports show that e-tail sales grew about 240% through the fourth quarter. It looks like Amazon did a bit better than than - impressive results although shy of some expectations. The market remains grossly over-fixated on growth and fails to recognize the significance of the company's own admissions: that margins were adversely effected because of pricing pressures. Amazon bought business.

Amazon will remain a leader in the emerging industry for at least a couple years. The growth of the industry will continue to outpace any other sector. But competition is just starting to heat up. Within 18 months the competition will become much more severe but for the next few quarters Amazon is the hottest e-tail game and no one is paying attention that this horse is developing a limp.
